7 days Capsule training for Reading promoters:4-11 June

Our training team conducted training session for Reading promoters.In this session Reading promoters were trained on listening skills,Mime and different features of efficient Story narration.Through this training they were taught how to select good books for children.In last two days of the session training team did observation on how they do assessment of children's performance using the indicators. 

DSS kids become part of KHUDBUD (Television science game show for Vigyan Prasar)

Beacon Television are currently working on a Television Science Game Show for Vigyan Prasar (Department of Science & Technology, GOI). Khudbud, Khel Vigyan Ke  is a 52 episode Series with the mission to popularize Science and encourage children to Learn By Doing.This Programme is telecasted every Saturday morning at 8.30 am on the National Network of Doordarshan.Door Step School kids were the part of this venture.Children got opportunity to learn about scientific concept through different experiments.

Bal Samuha children directed towards bright future through Career Guidance Workshop:25 June

Children of our Bal Samuha groups who appeared for 10th and 12th std. exam, had gathered together to know about different courses that they can pursue in future.  The Goldman Sachs Company Employees volunteered to to conduct extremely helpful Career Guidance workshop for these children.They provided them with information about courses and career opportunities.Children were also introduced to the process of resume writing with its important elements. The information that they came to know through this workshop will help them to make informed decision to achieve bright and successful career.

Finger licking khichdi at the School on Wheels:16 June

Khichadi programme has started for kids on School on Wheels.Children are enjoying their meals at the bus because of this initiative.Before this they used to strive hard for their lunch.This initiative has also boosted the regularity of children attending the class.We thank Gayatri Prabhu for her support that has helped to fill tummies of our tiny tots.

DSS Kids play Carom to learn word formation:13 March

Carom is such a game which is enjoyed by one and all. Coordinator Sujata Walavalkar came up with an innovative idea of Language Carom. All the coins were covered with different letters. Children were asked to play and form different words of letters on the coins which they pocketed in the flow of the game. Children came up with many new words. This learning through recreation activity was enjoyed by all the children.

Tiny tots teach their parents through the exhibition:14 March

Project Exhibition was organised in 'E' ward by Balwadi Kids.Little ones were manning different stalls named as Fruit stall, Flowers stall, Our helpers etc.They were giving information with great enthusiasm to their parents and visitors who visited their stall. Parents were keen to listen what their kids were explaining.
Sarth's Father Said "The information which kids are giving is of much higher level than their age. I am feeling good to see my son speaking so confidently. This reflects the progress he has made after joining Door Step School.

Door Step School Kids earn praise for their performance in Delhi:5 March


This year on its seventh foundation day, the NCPCR had organised a campaign " From Street to School" to  focus on children living on and off the streets without safe shelter, access to education, healthcare, leisure, and sports. NGOs from all over India were invited to be the part of the Campaign.A team of four girls Devi Puniya Chauvan ,Anita Sevnath ,Akshata Chauvan, Vandana   Lalit Shaue along with Coodinators Surekha Pathare and Arati Hande went to represent Door Step School.The important activities which took place were
  • Facilitating issue of Aadhar Card to street children 
  • Generating awareness on the issues and concerns of street children 
  • Creating Webpage on street children
  • Organising panel discussions on the needs of street children.
The cultural dance performance done by our girls was praised by audience.
