DSS Teachers come together to celebrate Women's day :8 MarchA motivating session was organised for all teachers to mark the celebration of International Women's day.The session was guided by the Training team.Teachers were divide into small groups.Each group was asked to read a book and select a female character in it and portray the feminine quality in that character.Each group was asked to present these qualities through the charts to other groups.The posters were very innovative and clearly displayed different qualities which prevails in a women.Teachers came ahead and shared their personal experiences to inspire others. Pride of being a woman of substance was cherished through this session.
DSS Kids at Global Conference of Acturaries:17 Feb
Door Step School is proud to be the part of the 16 th Global Conference of Actuaries which was held at Hotel Renaissance,Mumbai.It is third consecutive year that we are participating in the conference.16 kids were shortlisted for the conference from different fields were we run our projects.At the conference kids were made comfortable and introduced to the actuarial professsion.All these kids were asked to write on a very interesting topic"My mathematics teachers's class".A talented girl from our School Partnership programme Suman Ray left the judges speechless through her thoughts which she had written.A short and mathematically oriented contest was held for the kids.Master Suhel Md Ansari bagged first place in this contest.
Great leaders of India inspire Door Step School kids on Shivaji Jayanti:19 Feb
On account of Shivaji jayanti small exhibiton was organised in the community to spread the information about great deeds done by our leaders.Firstly our kids under the guidance of teachers gathered all the infomation on 5 leaders namely Shivaji Maharaj,Savitribai Phule,Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar ,Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mhatma Gandhi.Teachers gave elaborated information on their life ,wokings for the people.Children made different things from clay and paper which symbolises the success stories of these great people.Children then disseminated this information to their parents and other children in the community.
Door Step School's Reading Promotion Programme focuses mainly on improving reading skills of children and with this motive Vacchan Mela - A Reading Fair, was organised at Colaba Municipal School.Reading Fair had different stalls like Jaago Grahak Jaago,Hum Bazar Gaye,Story Puzzle,Lekhakala Patrah,Chitravarun Naav Dene,Ikalelya Ghostinchi Nava Hihine.At one point in time, only 5 students were directed to a particular stall, and the teacher student ratio was 2:5. The students actively participated in all activities at each stall.

What started with a Non Formal Education class for 25 out of school kids in Cuffe Parade slum community at their doorstep, has grown into an organisation which over a period 25 years has touched lives of more than 2,35,000 children. Bina Lashkari our beloved Founder of Door Step School was honoured with the Civilian Honour - Stree Shakti Puraskar 2013 - (Mata Jijabai Award) for her outstanding contribution towards the socio economic development of children and for the achievement in the field of education and training. We all are excited and happy for all the recognition and praise.
With this we also thank all of you with whose support and contribution Door Step School has achieved its Silver Jubilee milestone and envisions to achieve many more.

The student was asked his standard, given an activity expected for that level- but if he/she couldn’t do that- the activity was made harder/simpler as required.
The most eagerly waited moment of every kid as the year approaches its end is the Christmas Day. Like every year we celebrated Christmas with our kids with great joy and pomp.Party started with decoration of Christmas tree and then kids merrily enjoyed singing songs and dancing.The main centre of attraction was Children's favourite and beloved Santa Claus. This time to add icing to cake, the magic show was organised in the Christmas party. Children were left amazed when Magician Mr Chandresh performed magic tricks. Sunny who was actually involved in magic trick expressed that "If I learn magic I will give joy to others specially who are sad in their life.
